I just bought a granite table top (34 x 60) which the sales person says weights about 300 pounds. Do I need a specific size table base to support it? I am looking for a wooden table base and I like the legs to be 4 1/2 at the top with 3 1/2 at the bottom. Is this enough? What about the apron?
thanks.

300lbs? Sounds a little heavy, but just make sure your base is rated for 300lbs or greater.
I can't answer your question, it is better to ask an engineer.

Even the heaviest granites shouldnt be over 250lbs. I have installed granite this size on many different bases, you might want to use a wooden apron that covers a welded steel angle iron perimeter, jsut a suggestion.
