What is the best way to get the bottom of the granite and the build down flat to minimize the glue line? thanks, terry.

I don't understand the question. Could you reiterate?

when gluing the build up on, the bottom of the sheets are not perfectly flat, leaving gaps in certain areas which fill with glue, making a noticable line.

Grind the back of both pieces before you laminate them and then use c clamps to hold them tight while the glue dries. This should minimize your seams.

That's how I do it. Just take your time and smooth the entire back of the lamination strip and the same width on the countertop back. The whole idea is to make it smoother so the seam is tighter.

These are made for fast removal and nice finish. They give excellend results. They are also available in medium or fine grits, but for a lamination preparation I wouldn't do that.
