I work for a granite company that specializes in granite countertops. I would like to learn how to make granite signs; what tools are needed to lay out the design and to put the design into the granite surface.

can you be a little more specific? Are you trying to learn how to:
Design them?
Shaping the sign.
Adding the electrical?
Installing them?
I am not sure what you are looking for.

I would like to make like house number signs and like name signs. I would take a piece of granite that is a certain size and I would like to engrave the letters onto it.

You can use a ringsaw to cut any shape you want, like the letters on the inside of the granite.
I would definitely use epoxy to glue the granite together as you will have a permanent bond.

There are several methods that we use to carve various address markers and plaques. Some can be achieved with very little start-up costs. And I would find out more about this saw Mark is reffering to.
