I have installed absolute black granite counter tops and where I had to make a cut with a wet saw there is a line where the saw moved across. I had put duck tape on the bottom of the saw to protect the granite but there is a line now. Is there a way to remove this?

Josh,
there is always something that can be done. I am not understanding your problem though. Do you mean when you cut it you scratched the top of the countertop and want to get that lighter scratch out?

If the scratch is very minor you can treat it with a color enhancer. This will not remove the scratch but it will hide it so it isn't as visible.

You can top polish the scratch out, but if you are not experienced in top polishing that would be a job for a pro, not a novice.

If the scratch is more of a fissure than a scratch you can put black color into the crevice and then use either CA or a clear glue to fill it.

Please give me more to go on so I know what you are dealing with. Let me know your experience level also.

Mark

ive had this same problem. it was on a test piece so i didnt go very far with it. try acetone, or like mark said a color enhancer. maybe uniblack will work. for some reason this happens, and its not easy to fix. i dont have a sure answer for it, sorry.

I'm not sure if it would be a scratch, it looks more like a water stain line from where the saw was moved across the top. It is not a surface scratch you can feel nothing when you run your finger across it.

im sorry i misread your first post.  what it sounds like is bruisinge, or a stun mark. these appear when the crystals of the stone are fractured on a microscopic level, leaving a trace line or mark, usually a white or very light color. there really is no way to repair this without severely jeapordizing the piece youre working on. however i could (i hope i am) wrong. if you can post a picture or two is would help tremendously.

Mark, Cameron,

Any luck on what might have caused this or if it can be fixed?
