Why has there been such a decline in the demand and (work opportunities) for Granite Fabricators and Cutters? This is the BIG Question that both me and my coworker's want desperately answered!!! Can you please help us out and answer our question? Is it due to the drop in new home sales or that people are losing their homes and don't have the money to be upgrading their kitchens? Or is it because of the machines that can do the jobs we do for less?
Please help us out with this question?

Thanks,
Erick Ramos

It's because we are in a recession. There is less work so there are less fabricators. Especially new construction although the high end work is still holding up well.

It could have alot to do with your location... I live the the Great Lakes region and things really haven't slowed down much if at all. Some areas have been hit harder than others with this economic down turn and housing market devalueation.

This too shall pass...joe

I was out looking for articles for my granite guy and came across this. I did some web/ad work for a fabricator in NH recently and launched an adwords campaign and he's slammed.. if you are not in the NH area and would like my help let me know. 20 tops in the first month.

It really depends. If a fabricator is focused on new construction, they may have seen a decline in the demand for new granite countertops because of fewer housing starts. If a fabricator is well diversified and is involved with remodeling, new construction and commercial contracts, than they are most likely in better shape. I think it also depends on what city and state your in. If your looking for work and willing to relocate to Indianapolis, give us a call. 800-466-0270 or visit us at www.supremesurface.com

You have to go after the customer.. when times are tough the custoemr becomes more cost concious. Even builders will look for price breaks to increase margins on upgrades like granite. The best way to attrack new customers is to go where they are and position yourself competitively in your market. Answer your phone in a professional manor when the phone rings.
