I am so confused about what our government is doing for us and to us! It is illegal for an immigrant to come here without papers, yet it is now to the point where not only is it being condoned by our elected officials, but they are trying to give all the people who came here illegally amnesty...what is the point of that? Yes you can argue how they came to our great country to make a better life for themselves and their families. That is a valid point. In fact, my ancestors came here for the exact same reason. The difference is (and this is my rant) when my ancestors came here they were willing to become citizens of this great country. To learn the language and to uphold their civil duties. I think that one of our great presidents said it best, and I quote: Are we "SLOW LEARNERS" or what? "In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." Theodore Roosevelt 1907 I hear people say "if we don't have illegal aliens then a loaf of bread will cost $10.00", but they don't have an illegal alien problem in Europe, and their bread doesn't cost $10.00 a loaf, so I disagree. Look, I am not saying that we should keep people out of this country, well...I guess I am, in a way. Keep the ones out who: A) Come here illegally B) Do not represent themselves as upstanding members of the community (this means all you lowlife gangbangers) c) Do not do their civic duties, including paying taxes D) Do not get jobs E) Do not learn the language, or at least try to learn it F) Come here and then badmouth our country. I mean, if Mexico was so great then GO HOME!
