I have heard of people doing this, but it is a terrible idea as the wood routers will not take the stone dust. It will destroy the motors. If you own a grinder you should just buy a router bit with a 5/8"-11 threaded arbor. They fit right on your grinder and because they have a top and a side bearing they are almost idiotproof - almost!
We offer a selection of them at
www.defusco.com under diamond products > grinder shaping bits. They use a brazed diamond process for quick removal of material and consistent edge design, provided the top surface and the side surface are each only 1 plane with no ridges or saw marks on them.
That being said, if you really want a stone router we offer those in 2 different styles, but if you are new to this or a do-it-yourselfer it is not cost efficient.
