I just installed new granite counter top...used a permanent marker to draw cut out and now it has stained the counter..i have tried baking soda, rubbing alcohol, paint thinner, graffiti remover,etc..it will not come out...HELP....did i ruin it?

Before you do this test it on a scrap or a small area as this is fine for granite, but sometimes there are other minerals in the stone which will change color with this solution.

Try lime (powder) and water. Make a paste and leave it on for 3-4 hours. Coat with saran wrap to keep it moist. This should remove the marker and will not change the color of the granite, but there are lots of things being sold as granite that are not true granites. If you can shoot me a pic or at least tell me the name of the stone I can help more.

One trick that usually works, unless the ink has really soaked in.  Just use the same marker you wrote on the granite with to mark your cut out, to write on the same place - before the ink dries quickly try and wipe it off. Usually this will disolve the old ink enough so you can wipe it off.  Hope this helps.
