Is it necessary, structurally, to avoid square-cut 90° corners when making a cut-out for a self-rimming, drop-in sink?  Somewhere I got the impression that it's important to make radial corners (of as large a radius as the sink will accommodate), presumably because there is something inherently and significantly weaker about a simple square corner.  I hope I am mistaken, since this would require use of a costly diamond boring bit or something beyond a simple diamond granite-cutting Skilsaw blade, which is all that's needed for a square corner.

Thanks

First of all, yes, there is something inherently and significantly weaker about a simple square corner. It ha to do with structural integrity. Physics. That being said, if your slab is properly supported from below with support around the cutout area it is perfectly acceptable practice as the significant force is gravity and by giving it proper support you have taken that aspect out of the picture.

In other words, go for it as long as you have proper support from beneath as gravity works.
