This past weekend i attempted to install square blocks or tiles of granite onto my laminate countertops. I used the premix Marble & Stone stuff they have at Lowe's that i was told you'd put onto the countertops for them to stick to. I didnt think i had to put grout between each piece. For the backsplash i'd measuring out the cuts and got lowe's to cut them. As well the pieces around my sink and some on my needed to be cut , i have an L shape counter with a bar that sits above the shorter end of the L shape. I plan on putting on wood molding that matches my cabinets for the edges. Upon reading some posts on this site i wonder did i install properly because it looks like most folks put in a subcountertop underneath and verses sticking the granite right on the laminate and then i've read were people are saying its best to use grout between peices.

I would like someone's opinon who's experienced as to whether what i did will be okay or do i need to redo it. The thing is i dont know how i'd get the pieces off since they've dried i'm sure since yesterday underneath.

I'd opted to do the counters myself and bought the granite from Lowe's because i'd gotten such high quotes to install new countertops.

Help please!

More info please:
size of tiles (12" x 12"?)
What was under the tiles - the old laminate counter only?
What exactly is "premix marble & stone stuff"?
How big is your grout joint? The joint between the tiles? If you use no grout joint it will be very hard to make the counter look right. Part of the reason is because each piece needs to be set in the same plane, but more importantly there is NO standard in this industry. In every box of 10 pieces of granite one or more of them are different sizes from the remainder.
If you can shoot me some digital pics I will  be better equipped to help you on this. They can be removed, just don't be the proverbial bull in the china closet.

Sorry they are 12x12 granite tiles which had to get cut for the backsplash and areas around my sink.  I used Mapei Marble & Stone Adhesive to put them on yes the laminate countertop. I dont know exactly how large my grout joint is but last night after talking further with an assoicate at Lowe's did get the grout sealer for the joints. The exact name of that i cant recall right now i'll have to get back with you on that later. But i think i have it covered now. I'll take digital pics no problem will have to do that tonight when i'm home from work. The grout & sealer was working well last night i only have one section left to do then i can put on my wood molding for the edges to match my cabinets. I wont get the chance to finish till Wed.
