I am trying to become informed about granite sealants and their purpose.  I see that they help prevent water and oil stains, but I haven't found anything that specifically address coloring agents that are within water, namely red wine or coffee.  Does anyone know anything about granite being stained by red wine or coffee, and if it can be, is there a sealant that will help prevent it?

Thanks.

Celeste,
This is covered in the posts. If you seal your marble or granite with a mineral based sealer such as Hydrex it will prevent the stone from being etched by acids as well as stain proofing your stone. Here is the link:

Glad to be of service,
