Please HELP... IS IT POSSIBLE FOR AN ENTIRE KITCHEN TO BE ORDERED WITHOUT TEMPLATE? Has any Granite provider in the history of Granite tops successfully attempted providing granite tops without the template process? If so who? How did they do this?

That would be true art! If you are using standard size cabinets and no sink it is conceivable, but all the top fabricators I know make templates out of Corplast (corrugated pastic).

Glad to be of service,

Thanks for the reply. I don't know any kitchens with out a sink so I would say (if you agree) that trying to put granite in a kitchen after a cabinet install is a huge mistake. However I am not in the granite biz... so I wanted someones advice that is/was. I do know walls are rarely square even if prefab cabinets are. and center lines to windows change from house to house even with the same floor plans. So why would anyone think granite can be installed with out a template is beyond me. (?)

Please clarify something for me. You said "trying to put granite in a kitchen after a cabinet install is a huge mistake". As far as I know, you would only put the granite counters in after you install the cabinet. They can't go in first.

Or am I misreading this?

AFTER cabinet install. What provoked this search for answers & my question is I am being told by two separate industries (cabinet people, home builder) NOT PEOPLE IN the granite business AT ALL... that a new construction home after cabinets are installed can have a successful (profitable) granite top installed with out a template process. Now I have been in the construction industry all my adult life. In all my years (I'm 45) I have never seen anyone try and do this. I personally think this cabinet company & builder are making a huge mistake. But I also recognize I am not a granite expert. All though I do have an opinion I think asking people that have been doing granite are the best people to ask if this is wise, profitable, or even possible. Walls are not square, sink centers are not always right where the plan calls for, cabinets are shimmed to fit each and every home differently, etc. My understanding is a template insures a custom fit. A custom fit is necessary because granite is an expensive piece of rock and making a mistake for example on a sink cut out can cost so much that all the profit you tried to make from selling a homeowner a granite top can be gone with one simple mistake. Do you agree?

Bill I agree with you absolutely! Why they are using NO template makes NO sense!
