I had new granite countertops installed this week and the fabricator did not polish the top of the granite. They are telling me that they do not polish it and I have never seem granite that did not have a mirror finish on it. I called them out to look at it and they are telling me that no one polishes granite and you get it like it comes from the stone yard. Can I get someone to come to my home to polish it or am I stuck with granite that looks dull in many places. It has veins of quartz with black veins and has gold and white in it also. It is called Mascerallo if you are familiar with that granite please let me know what my recourse is with this fabricator.
Thanks for any help you can give me. I live in the Dallas area.

Didn't you look at the granite before you purchased it?

The fabricator is correct - top polishing of slabs is not done by a fabricating company, it is done by the slab manufacturer.
What is the condition of the top? Is it on one plane or is it textured? If it is honed that explains a lot and you need to get  a new slab. If the fabricator sold you polished and delivered a honed stone it is on them to replace the stone. If you picked a honed stone and expected a polished surface then you are stuck buying a new slab.
Just goes to show you that Tommy Lee Jones was correct in his assessment of the human race.
