This may be a stupid question. We have a granite countertop in our kitchen. We no longer like the color. Has anyone ever painted a granite countertop? What paint would you use? How do you make it adhere to the granite?

Thanks.

Burford,
Did you know that you can stain granite? If that makes a difference here is what you do:
Make sure there isn't a sealer on the granite (the lemon test) & if there is remove the sealer. You can find instructions for this further down in the form.

Once you have a clean surface you can use Pectro by Tenax to stain the stone:

After staining buff with stainless steel and you can improve the gloss.

If you paint granite and the painted area gets any kind of action it will peel off. It would be like painting glass. I can't think of a good reason to do that. If you absolutely hate the stone you should change it.

Mark, thanks for the info. Would this technique allow me to make what is now a black with grey and white speckles into a totally black countertop?

No, but it would darken the stone consiiderably.
