I just had my counter top installed and noticed that in the light there are an awfull lot of flaws.  Is this normal, low quality, need more sanding or can I apply a produck like Pectro Black to minimize the visability of the cracks?

This looks like a normal finish on some granites. It is a series of microfissures which could have been caused by a variety of reasons (is this stone Giallo Veniziano?).
Pectro will minimize the microfissures and make them less noticeable. Just wipe it on the stone and allow it to dry to a haze, then buff it off with fine steel wool. You can find the Pectro here:

I would use Pectro clear on this stone, NOT Pectro black.
You can also use TeWax over the Pectro. This will fill the voids to make the fissures disappear. You can find that product here:

Glad to be of service,

Thanks for your reply Mark.  It is NVG.  I think my issue is that I was comparing my NVG to my neighbors black and dark granite which has less fissures or smaller.

Here is something from a quarry on their Q and A page:

Are pitting and/or fissures in granite normal?
Granite, which is crystalline in structure, always has miniscule pits. These are voids between the various mineral crystals. Granite will often have natural fissures as well. These are not cracks and are an inherent quality of granite. These characteristics are part of the natural beauty of stone and will not impair the structural integrity of the material.

NVG has way more variety in the mineral crystals then your neighbors.  Thought you might find this resource interesting.
