I have a narrow kitchen that I had a 30" X 60" formica table made to accomodate the room size.  It has served its purpose and I would like to upgrade.  My idea is as follows.  I would have granite cut the same size.  I would attach a 2 X 6 to the wall and  rest the table on that and install two legs to support the other side of the table.  I would finish the wall with tile.  I figure I could get a remnant piece of granite locally for a good price.  The table legs I need help with.  Where could I get something like this?  Is this idea feasable?  Do you think it would look good?  Thanks.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  You can buy wooden legs at your local home center, Home Depot, Lowes, etc

Just make sure whatever you use will support 15lbs. per square foot.

The following is a chart that might be more precise for the weights:

3/8"(10mm) thick tile: 5.5 lbs sq. ft.
1/2"(12mm) thick tile: 6.5 lbs. sq. ft.
3/4"(20mm) thick slab: 12.8 lbs. sq. ft.
1 1/4"(30mm) thick slab: 18 lbs sq. ft.

Thanks, I will check out the local big box stores and talk with the fabricator about this.

I know it's a little late, but you might consider braces (the type used to support granite countertops). I was investigating this today for my kitchen project and found this company in the Carolinas - Federal Brace http://www.federalbrace.com/. They look strong and I'll bet you wouldn't get the same support from ordinary wooden legs from a big box store.
