any suggestions on what glue to use and should it be clamped?

Glue it using epoxy. After applying the glue clamp it tight, carefully scrape away the excess and allow the glue to cure.
I recommend Instand Install as it dries clear and will not stick to the polished surfaces. You can find it here:
