Hi, I searched through this forum looking for info that might apply to my problem and haven't found it so here goes;
Just had black granite countertops installed and there was no shine to the edges. The installer had applied some sort of blacking, which I assume was wax, but the edges didn't shine. This morning I polished using diamond pads beginning at 800 grit through to buff. Then I applied Tenax Ager. A shine appeared and I wiped the excess. Then after an hour I applied a second coat and even more shine appeared, and I gently wiped that excess.
But it's been 41/2 hours since the second coat and it still hasn't hardened. I
The edges aren't sticky but they feel soft.
Will this harden overnight, or is there something else I can do here?
Thanks.

The installer waxed the edges, which will come off when you clean the countertop. He should have polished them to match the face of the countertop. I am thinking you went with either someone who is inexperienced or the cheapest bid on your countertops because a pro would have left you with a satisfactory counter!
Ager does not make the stone shiny, it is a penetrating color enhancing sealer - it gives the stone the "wet look", which is how the stone looks when damp.
What are the make and model of your pads and are they wet pads or dry pads? Is the stone the correct color without gloss or is it hazy? A good set of polishing pads run correctly will polish the stone so you don't have to mess with this again!
We can help you with this but give me more details.
You can always call me during the week at 800-289-6834.
Glad to be of service,
Mark

Mark is 100% correct.  There is no easy way to make granite shine, just one right way (well 2, wet or dry Smiley.  Get a good set of pads and a variable speed grinder.  What granite do you have?
