I just had Tigerish or Tiger Skin granite countertops installed and was talked into going with the ogee edge.  After installation, I noticed that the ogee edge is white compared to the surface of the countertop.  The installer came out yesterday to seal the granite and tried using an ager on the edges but nothing seemed to happen.  When it was installed on Friday, I was told that the granite had a one year sealer on it.  When they came back yesterday and put on the ager, should he have removed the sealer on the edge first?  He did nothing to prep the edge.  Now they are saying they are coming back again and said it may take two applications but said the ager will penetrate the sealer without removing it.  Is this true?  The last sealer he put om is suppose to be a lifetime sealer.

Once a stone is sealed it is sealed and another sealer will not work. This may be a dyed resin in which case a color enhancer like Ager will not work. Can you post some pictures to give an idea of what you are working with ?

Glad to be of service,
Mark

Fabricator came out today with someone experienced with Tenax products and stripped the edge with acetone.  They then used Tepox 2 stain that they mixed to match the brownish yellow color in the granite.  They had to use 3-4 coats to get the edge to match up with the surface.  They then used Tiger Ager to seal the edges.  It looks great.  The edge matches up to the surface and you can't tell that they had to do anything.  The fabricator will be coming back next week to seal the edges with stain proof sealer.

The ager/tiger should have been used after grit 200 during fabrication work.  After drying and sealing the edge fabricator could continue to polish all the way up to 3000 grit and then buff..  At that point there would be no discoloration issues.

cheers
