Hello, I am the proud owner of "in the night blue" granite.  It is 2 years old and starting to show very fine, but visible scratches.  I was told I do not have to seal this granite because of its hardness, but still  had to clean and polish it daily, weekly.  Is it ok not to seal this granite.  I did do water and oil test(from internet)  and had no staining or darkening, is that right?  Secondly, I'm starting to notice fine scratches(can feel if go accross with fingernail) in the granite.  Polishing(stonetech polish, buffing) it does not help, shinnier but still notice scatches.  Is there any way to fix this?  And what's causing them, isn't this stuff really hard?  I think the bottom of my  plastic Igloo lunch kettle is causing some of them, but not sure how?  Must I put everything(pots, pans, cookie sheets) on pads when using countertop?  I don't want to make it worse, its awesome  looking stuff, but need help!  Thanks

If these are microfissures then with the light on above and you standing so you are looking across the slab with your eyes just over the level of the counter they should look like spiderwebs. If that is the case Pectro Black for Tenax will hide them. Just wipe it on wet, let it dry to a haze and then buff it off with steel wool. You can find Pectro Black here:

Glad to be of service,

They look and feel like scratches.  Can I creat a fissure, by sliding somthing across top, if not, then they are definitely no fissures.  Trying to post pics, trying to make small enough for site, having trouble, still trying. Sad

I talked to Cameron about this and his first thought its to treat it with Ager. Here is a quote from him "Color enhancer let it sit for 20 minutes. Do a test first to make sure the rest of tyr stone won't absorb. If that works it will need to be face polished. "

If you need Ager you can find it here:

I am posting the pics up on this project.

For light scratches, put mineral oil on a paper towel or soft cloth, and apply it using medium pressure. If the scratches are deeper, use 100-grit sandpaper and sand it out. And then, apply mineral oil.

Kattima, your info is poor at best. Mineral oil will wash out when you clean your counters and if you use 100 grit ANYTHING on a polished surface and it affects the surface at all it will ruin it.
Please stick to posting your products in the for sale area and don't mislead people.

Whatever you do please do not listen to the person that suggested 100 Grit lol  listen to the person and try to use tenax products first.. the minute you start sanding your counter top you can consider it ruined.  cheers
