I am installing Prefabbed Granite slab on my outdoor bbq. The granite is a few peices left over from my kitchen remodel. The frame is steel and it is covered in hardie backerboard (cement board).
1) Would you still reccommend using Silicone Caulking as adhesive to attach the graniite to the backer board?
2) Is there a pretreatment of the cement board required before attaching the granite?
3) I need one 26" long edge of a piece of granite bullnosed, are any of you fabricators in the Long Beach, Ca area? I have called a few but either the price is ridiculous or the job too small. Thanks,
Tom

Tom,
1) Silicone would be fine for your application.
2) No pretreatment is needed other than making sure it is clean and dry.
3) You are on your own here...

Thanks.
I have one more question (at least for now). I need two pieces I am seaming together to be exactly the same length. My thought is to match one end and seam them together, then trim the other end so lengths are identical, and then to attach it to the BBQ. Will the polyester resin hold up during the trimming? I'll be using a hand held 4.5" wet saw, the granite is 3/4" thick, and the seam will be 20 inches long.
Thanks,
Tom

Don't do it that way. Cut first and seam when you install. Do not use polyester resin outdoors as it will not hold up. It is not made for exterior applications. If this is a moving BBQ use a soft joint if it is stationary use an epoxy seam.
Fell free to call me on this venture.

Glad to be of service,
Mark
