This is my first time installing a granite countertop. Are the counters glued into place? If so what is the best type to use?

With tiles? Use a latex thinset and install them like tiles.

Glad to be of service,

Granite has been quite popular and cost effective option for kitchen countertops. Off late, there has been an inherent confusion about the existing radiation levels in natural granite being used for kitchen countertops, bathroom vanity , floor tiles etc,so i suggest  you kitchen counter top, granite worktops for counter top installation.

If the dimensions of the pieces in question fit your requirements, there is very little secret about installing them. You may have to deal out square walls or other things unique to you situation. If you are going to use one that has a sink cutout that could be a problem and one i would say is best left to the professional.

For simple slabs, all they do is put a bead of silicon caulk on the counter top and set the granite on it. Of course you do need to deal with the back splash and caulking any seams.I would really want more detail before i would say do it yourself but i would not just so no either. You also need to the the correct edges polished. If they are square edges, that can be done by any installer who normally does granite. That can be done at your house with portable tools.
